NIT Puducherry admissions 2016

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Puducherry has released an admission notification inviting applications from interested, eligible candidates to apply for its full time and part time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the academic session 2016.

The PhD programme is offered under the following departments:

  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification:

PhD in engineering: Those interested in applying should possess a first class Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology and a Master’s degree in engineering/technology or a Master’s degree by research (MS by research) in relevant engineering/technology disciplines with a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10 for OC/OBC category and 55 per cent aggregate marks.

PhD in science and humanities: Those interested in applying should possess a first class Master’s degree in sciences/humanities in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10 for OC/OBC category and 55 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0/10 for SC/ ST/ PH category.

Selection procedure:

The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE/NET/JRF/SRF score. They will then be called for an entrance test and / or interview. Both full time and part time candidates will have to sit for a common written test.

They are then required to send the completed application form along with other relevant enclosures to ‘The Director, National Institute of Technology, Puducherry’, payable at Karaikal, should reach ‘The Registrar (i/c), National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Thiruvettakudy, Karaikal-609609.’
