Samsung has started rolling out the Marshmallow update to the first-generation Galaxy A5smartphone. Currently rolling out in Europe and South Africa, the update brings along Android version 6.0.1.

Aside from the usual Marshmallow goodies, such as Doze, Google Now on Tap, and redesigned app permissions, the update also includes latest Android security patches.

As is usually the case with OTA roll-outs, it may take some time before the update hits your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can also manually check for the update by heading to your handset’s Settings menu.
