The studded eye makeup trend probably isn't safe, but it looks cool

If you haven’t worked it out by now, let us spill the big secret.

Today’s beauty trends aren’t really about looking good in real life. They’re just for taking a cool pic for Instagram and raking in all the double taps.

Squiggle brows and the pen manicure might have given it away.

So we’re not at all surprised that the latest beauty look to pop up on social media includes some a very real risk of poking out your eye if you were to actually try it yourself.

Behold studded makeup.

Makeup artist Amy Huisman, who goes by Amy the Dutchess, debuted the look on her Instagram. Basically, it’s all about sticking tiny studs to your face.

You can focus the trend on your eyes…

…Or your lips.

As long as you’re putting some studs on your face, you’re fully involved in the trend.

It looks all edgy and cool (and you’ll note that Amy’s photos each have hundreds of likes), but we wouldn’t recommend trying out studded makeup trend at home.

Think about it.

Not only is there the possibility that one of your studs will come lose and cause damage to your very sensitive eye or mouth area (you could even end up swallowing one), but even if they do stay put, this trend definitely isn’t comfortable.

You really don’t want studs stuck to your lids for longer than it takes to snap a few selfies. They’re heavy, scratchy, and if they sit in the crease of your eye you’ll be uncomfortable every time you blink.

The comfiest place to stick your spikes would probably be your cheeks or forehead, far away from your easily irritated eyes or mouth, but that’ll give you a pretty different end result.
