My current state is one of limbo. No not limbo dancing; that’s a little way off. I’m four weeks into a cobbled-together diet (I’m calling it the Squirrel Diet, because I’m snacking like one to get through the day), and next week I start a new six-week food and exercise plan devised by celebrity body whisperer Louise Parker.

She is going to help me reach my goal of losing three stone by Christmas, which I need to do for health reasons after I learned I had a biological age of 70. Fabulous news if you are 90. Not so great when you are 50.

So until I can begin my major lifestyle overhaul, I am in limbo. This is a lot less relaxing than it sounds.

I only have one task, which is to keep off the 13 pounds I have effortfully lost so far on my own. But this is a day job in itself.
